A problem with the handset/interface(?) of my Toshiba smart tv

I’m having an issue with regards to the menu/interface on my TV (Toshiba 32L3863DB).

Whenever I press a button on my remote, e.g. menu (or volume), I’m finding that the menu (or volume, or guide, or anything really) will, almost instantly, flicker on and then off before I have the chance to scroll along and access any features.

I can, for example, access Netflix because I have the Netflix button on my remote; however, if I were to try to access Amazon Prime — for which I would need to scroll through the smart TV menu — I’d be unable as the menu would already have flickered off.

If any of this makes sense, I hope somebody can help.
