screen blank on boot up and blinking caps lock, f12 continuous light

I have a HP Pavilion g6-2298sa Notebook PC which I’ve had since 2012 and upgraded the HD to an 512gb SSD in December.

Today upon switching on the screen is blank, the caps lock light flashing and the f12 button a continuous light.

I have used resources such as https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c0... but my caps lock seems to be doing 3 flashes then a pause which isn’t listed. I have still tried some of these solutions just in case, such as removing power cord and battery and pressing the power button then turning on once replacing battery and power cord. I have also downloaded the BIOS update onto a USB and have this plugged into my laptop and have tried windows and B key upon startup, and windows and V key, and still can’t access the BIOS screen. Have also tried the Esc key and F10 which I also read about online.

If I had to do a factory reset it wouldn’t be the end of the world as I still have the old original HD for this laptop with everything on, so in theory could wipe the laptop now with the new SSD in it, then replace it with HD with my documents, then upload all of those to the SSD and replace it again perhaps?

I’m not the best with computers so appreciate any help! Thanks

Just yesterday an HP laptop dv5 came to the shop with this exact problem. Caps Lock blinking 3 times. Turned out to be that one of the RAM SO-DIMMs was bad. I suggest you try to boot the computer up with some other RAM, as long as it is the same type and speed (PC3-10600, for example).
