How important is the metal plate protecting the battery cable?

I just replaced the screen and battery on two iPhone 6s.

Problem is, when i assembled the phone, the phone had problem determining the battery health and there was a White pressure spot on the screen (just where the metal plate protecting the battery cable, is placed).

If i remove the plate completly both the pressure spot and the battery determing problem is gone.

So my question is: is the metal plate important or can i keep it removed?
