Power button partially working

Kenmore model number 796.40272900

Power button when pressed will light up machine but then turn off

Power button when pressed and held will allow for normal function but when released the machine shuts off.

I have tried the 5 minute reset

What is my problem?

What is my solution? Besides holding a button for an hour long while it washes (a little humor, but truth)
