Led ligth and vibration is not working :(

I have an issue with a dualshock 4 v1. When the controller is plugged for charging the mark <?> appears inside the battery level indicator. I have to use it plugged, it does not work for a long time in wireless mode. it turns off. Sometimes de light bar and the vibration does not work. Some times it works, the ligth turns on and the vibration works, I would like to note that these two things are related, they work or not togheter. if the ligth is on the vibration works, if it is off then does not. when the ligth and the vibtation is functioning the rigth side of the controller gets really hot, the zone marked in the red square.

I know it is confusing, but it is waht is happening to my controller. I have replaced the charging port, but the problem persists. Can the battery be the problem? what are the chips inside the red square that are getting hot? thanks for your help!

Hi! Nope does not sound a new battery will work. This more sounds like a motherboard issue! The LED/Charge board is connected through the other side of the motherboard, which is strange too. Sounds more like a motherboard issue here! Can you take out the motherboard and sent us some more images? Thanks!

thanks koppie! here I am with more pictures. the one that has the white square is the back of the other that has the red one, the other side of the area that gets hot.

I found out too that, when the ligth bar and the vibration is not funcioning, the charge icon if I plug the controllers is normal, the battery icon shows its usual animation of chargin in process and it seems to charge the battery.

but, and that is what is weird, when I press the reset button of the controller, and then press the PS button , the light bar and the vibration starts functioning, and of course the right side of the motherboard stars to get hot and the charge icon displays the symbol <?> instead displaying the charge status. what can be the reason of this beheavior and the solution? Do you think that maybe the reason is a broken fuse?. Thanks for your help!

I know some JDM-020's could cause this too. It's getting hot (very) and at some point it just stops showing the LED status (charging too). It was caused by the IC (big IC at the motherboard). Replacing it should do the trick. But the problem here is, is that it's difficult to get the part! I think it's best to replace the motherboard. iFixit sells them (when it's at stock). Perhaps you could find the part? I don't think it's a fuse. Otherwise it would have stopped working for all the time being.

@dan0 Is that the IC that you are saying?

I think it is difficult to replace, yes. Do you think that maybe a reflow of this chip can be a solution with a heat gun? Thanks!

Hi! No it's the IC in the area where it gets hot (smaller one). Yeah, it's difficult to replace :(.. Never tried to a reflow there, you could try. But be carefull with it.
