Motherboard fried, need to save harddrive, will another MacBook work?
MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Late 2013 SSD Replacement
My girlfriend’s MacBook pro died on her, apple service centre reported “a hardware failure to the mainboard” too costly to fix (this is actually the second time this happened to the same machine).
Anyway, I have an early 2015 MacBook pro 13”. They both have mojave 10.14.6 installed. I’m thinking the cheapest option to save her SSD data would be to swap it with mine, recover data to external hard drive, then swap mine back. Was wondering if anyone has experience with this? Would it be a simple swap and work seamlessly? Are there pitfalls/road blocks I might not be thinking of?
- I’ve looked at OWC envoy enclosure as an option to turn her SSD into an external, but the cost is way higher than just buying a few screw drivers to do the job I mentioned above.
- Service centre offered extortionate rates to recover the data.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
