Why won't whatsapp download images or voicenotes?
My phone won’t download images or voicenotes that are sent to me through whatsapp, and I can’t send them. I can see the blurred version of pictures, but they won’t download. However I can see them perfectly on Whatsapp Desktop?! I’ve tried deleting and redownloading several times, given it all the permissions… not sure what else I can do? Will rooting do anything?

I have the same problem and tried all the solutions from the whatsapp help center and nothing has worked. i see your post is from a couple years ago, any update? any solutions to share? thanks!
