Why isn’t my MacBook turning on after I replaced the battery?

My MacBook was not turning on after charging (Kept seeing orange light) so I got a new battery thinking it is a battery issue. Now that I have replaced the battery with a new one and charged it for 4 hours it’s still not turning on. I am at odds with this as the laptop is only 2 years old and I have hardly used it. I don’t know what to do next, if any can help me figure out how to get it working again?

Thanks for the reply, the charger looks to be working fine, mag safe pins and contact look okay too

I’ve not replaced the charger as it seems to be working order. Only the battery which is from Ifixit ? I have tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting and trying the power button again but nothing is working. Seems like something has died in there but I have no idea what it could be.

Sharon - Not good ;-{ If the charger and the DC-In board are AOK, then you either got a bad battery or the charging logic internally is having a problem.

If you can lets download and run this gem of an app get a better view of things! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question

Hey Dan, i don't think i can download this Cocunut battery app as I can't even power up the macbook :(

Often the charger also needs replacing or the DC-In board.

Let check the connections first!

Is the MagSafe cord damaged in any way? Cuts, bunched up in areas, or not smooth across its length.

Is the pins clean and are the outer two pins at the same height (the middle will be a bit lower)

is the systems MagSafe contacts clean and shiny is the plastic insulator area also clean? Use some isopropyl alcohol with a cotton swab (Q-Tip) to clean things up, then use a fresh soft pink pencil eraser to polish the contacts if they are not clean.

The last issue is the hardest to tell! If you replaced your charger did you buy it directly from Apple online or at their store? A good number of chargers sold from other sources as real are not! These knockoffs are so good you can only tell by weighing a known real unit from the fakes with a good scale. The fake will be a bit lighter.
