New ifixit battery will not charge

Replace the battery on my MacBook Pro 15” Mid 2012

I followed the steps from the site: 1. Charge to 100% then keep charing for 2 hours, 2. Unplug and use until it goes to sleep then wait 5 hours.

Step 3 is to then charge the battery.

I waited 5 hours, but now the laptop will not charge. Charger is plugged in, battery charing light is on, SIL light blinks blue, no response in turning the machine on.

Any hints/suggestions?
