A1708 shuts off… sort of?

If my macbook has been off for a while, it will turn on and run fine. But when it warms up after like a minute, the screen and keyboard backlight will go out (won’t display anything on an external monitor). The trackpad still clicks like it’s still on and there is still power to the usb ports. Is it just a dead logic board?

I would run the onboard diagnostics to see if any errors popped as that may help tell you what needs repair. Restart your system and press the D key to enter. Let us know what you get for errors!

Reference: Mac startup key combinations

It comes up with no errors found.

OK, then we need to check the battery, to get a better view of things, install this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question

Battery photo added. It appears good. I wonder if i have a bad capacitor or something on the board. It will run fine until the board heats up.

There are a few extended warranty programs for your system which might explain things.

Did you ever bring your system in fore the free repairs?
