As title says, I have a new 3ds xl that will turn on, but only if I squeeze it between the d pad and the analog stick. If I let go of the pressure, the screen and music freeze. Anyone have any idea why this might be?

This is likely due to a bad connection, which could be caused by bad ribbon cables, cold solder joints, or a fault on the motherboard.

Thank you for the reply. Do you have any idea how I might go about finding out the exact problem?
@Leonard Ponce I would start by warming up the cartridge port's solder joints with a soldering iron and adding leaded solder to each pin. Do the same for the battery contacts and the power switch contacts. If the fault persists, you may need to get a new motherboard.
