Laptop does not boot unless power cord is plugged in.

Hi all,

When trying to boot up the laptop (ASUS ASUSPRO P5440FA-BM0128R). It only shows me the ‘ASUS in search of incredible’ logo. It does not show the ‘spinning dots’ as it should be while booting.

However, when booting it while connected to a power outlet it takes one reboot and then it starts up perfectly fine.

Battery has already been replaced as I thought that’d be the issue.

Kr,

Kjell

Hi,

Some things to try:

i). Try starting the laptop in safe mode with networking and check if it boots OK every time without the charger being connected. If it does then there is a driver problem.

ii). Try booting from a USB using a free standalone program to see if that works OK when on battery only. Change the boot order in BIOS to boot from USB as the 1st option. I don’t think it’s a memory problem, but this program doesn't need Windows to be loaded to work. For it to work it needs most of the functions of the motherboard to also be working when testing the memory, except the HDD (or SSD).
