SSD upgrade went great, but:

I just upgraded with your 1TB SSD disk etc. install went smoothly. Everything g starts up and I’ve spend an hour getting everything restored. However, I just realized that not once has a fan come on, is this normal with the SSD instead of the mechanical drive??? It feels warmer than warm to the touch in the back but not hot either.

Just to clarify things, this is an open blog space sponsored by iFixit, The people answering questions are unpaid volunteers!

With that said which way did you mount it? Replacing your current HDD or adding it as a second drive?

Let's see if we can run the onboard diagnostics, reboot your system and press the USB keyboard D key to enter, did you get any errors?

Reference: Mac startup key combinations

To get a better idea on what your systems temps are I would recommend installing this great app TG Pro you only need the trail version for now but I do recommend it, I have it on all of my Mac systems. Enlarge the main window so all of the sensors and fans are visible and take a snapshot pasting it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question

One HD replacement. Actually it seems to be ok. Once the ambient noise in the house wound down late last night I could tell the fans were actually running very quietly. I guess I’ve grown use to the noisy hard drive and fans trying to keep the mechanical one cool I’ve over the years. This iMac was NEVER quiet.
