Lightning Connector Assembly Replaced - Now won't charge
Hi all,
I guess this is where we get our I Fix It “customer support”….
So I replaced the iPhone 7 Plus Lightning Connector Assembly from iFixit and with much hassle, got all the other functions of the phone to work. No missing screws, etc. The wifi, cellular and mic all work…which seem to be problems with this repair from them.
But now, when I go to charge the phone, I get the “This accessory may not be supported” error message. And of course the (also new) battery is slowly dying.
Anybody else have this problem? What’s the fix? Is it a connector that’s not seated properly? I’ve reseated and redone the screws on the whole thing 2-3x already.
Thanks, .curt

Was the phone charging with the other charge port assembly? Have you tried another cable?

Yes, it was charging with the other port and battery. Battery was at lower capacity due to age. And the port had lost its "umph" to hold the cable in, but would definitely charge.
So, it's the new assembly that's the problem. It holds the cable just fine, but phone gives the error every time. Phone is recognized by a MBP running Big Sur, but won't charge via the laptop nor a power brick. It's even backing up right now. So, it has data, but not charging capability.
Thanks for the response. .c

And yes, tried many other cables and other machines. No dice. Same error message when connected to other Macs and power sources.
