plug stuck in selfie cam FCP connector socket

Block Image

the circled port is the for the selfie cam of a iphone 6s. you can see the other two ports are the distinctive receptacle connector, but the circled one looks "filled in". plus the metal visible is silver not gold. what tipped me off is when i was trying to connect a screen, i couldn't get that flex cable connector to snap in (the other two went in fine). upon closer inspection i concluded that when i last disconnected a connector (which i'm not sure if i even have it anymore, i was replacing and rebuilding the LCD screen.

so, am i barking up the wrong tree? or does it look like the last time i disconnected something from that port, the connector left something behind?

and if this is the case, how does one extract the plug part without damaging receptacle portion?

unfortunately i don't have a hands free magnifier so i'm working at eyeball level.

the smallest precision tools i have for trying to dig it out are sewing pins, toothpics and dental pics. that's about the smallest pointed tools i have, but i'm worried about digging in too hard with the metal tools

if anyone has experience with this sort of thing, please share. i can use all the advice i can get as this motherboard is one worth salvaging.

hello BC

the only reasonable way I use is to replace the entire connector. It will be badly damaged after removing the broken connector. Unfortunately, the element is small and you could use a microscope, a good soldering iron and a lot of experience (there is a possibility of mechanical damage to the board in the wrong hands if you try to remove this connector. My advice, find a good repair shop. The sum for such extraction should not exceed $ 5-10

couldn't find any shop that would do the extraction for that cheap.

ended up using a couple of heavy duty sewing needles and leveraging from the ends. eventually got it out, did notice a few bent contact pins, but as they were perpendicular to the access of pressure i was exerting, i would surmise they were already damaged.

plugged a good camera flex into it and come to find the only thing i lose is the selfie cam functionality and the ear speaker is iffy.

i figure i can let my kid use it to play pokemon go while hotspotted to my phone. i'll worry about getting him a real phone when he's old enough for one.
