Asus N552vw Screen problem (flickering?! not sure!)

Hey everyone , sorry to take your time again (after 2 years)
(& wish you have a great christmas there)
its about 1 year that my laptop’s screen is not working well
& since that time im using with my old monitor (with HDMI to VGA convertor which works correclty)
for making it short just watch => THIS
& 1 thing : after starting the camera app in win10 , it just shows for 2 seconds & then stucks in its last frame (notice that the app doesn’t crash or get into an error or sth else , it just like kind of paused video , you know what im saying )
but when i was testing the screen, i tried to touch the flat cable to see any changes but nothing happend
any solution? softwarely or hardwarely?!
& btw (if you’ve read my previous posts , its still without battery & the auto turning on has not fixed yet xd ?)
check these out for reminding (first & second)
and sorry again if i typed sth wrongly , my eng is not so good

@aactech what do you think about this issue? PC's are kind of up your alley :-)

As with all troubleshooting eliminate the obvious first. If it was me I would Boot up in Windows Safe Mode and see what works to eliminate driver issues.

@oldturkey03 Here’s the promised destructive teardown (erm… reference) photos.

READ: This display was cracked, and I swapped it with a secondhand IPS FHD assembly from a liquid damaged laptop that was intact. Nothing was wasted, as I keep it for a spare magnesium lid with bezel for a non-IR 7490.

Within the assembly/removed from assembly. Notice the fact the seal is “one way” and cannot be reversed:

Within the area marked in red is where the strip is. There is no way to get this out without destroying the LCD :-(:

@ping98 that looks like your screen is having problems with the backlight LED’s. We would need to know the exact number from the label of the screen to see if the backlights are integrated. In that case you would need a new screen in order to fix this.

& one thing that i forget to add it in the post...

my ADSL Modem was always behind it (exactly near to asus logo)

& i've changed its wifi transmit power (frequency) to 9 (dbm? as i remember) ... i mean can it cause this problem during long time?

@ping98 your modem really shouldn't cause any issues like that. Let me see if I can find out more about the panel and where the back lights maybe located. Can you take a clear picture of the complete back side of the LCD? I f it has a frame we might be able to disassemble it? Are you up to it?

@oldturkey03 I'm familiar with them. You can't - they're secured with tape to a plastic frame backing it. Unless you can redo the tape, the "thin" panels in modern laptops are non-serviceable. The SLP panels are no better - they may be worse.

I have a cracked 7490 "SLP" panel from an assembly (I'd need to disassemble it but as it's cracked IDGAF about preserving the seal) to show you what I mean, if you'd like. I'm willing to open the cracked SureView panel in the assembly so you can see, but that's only being taken apart 50% so if I get a deal on a SV touch panel, I have a good shell. I have these because what often happens with bad screens is I can usually negotiate an assembly for a few bucks more then the price of the raw panel, so I swap it as a unit. I keep the shell with bad LCD for parts like bezels.

@nick if you have an old panel, lets take a look at it. I know that some are referred to as integrated backlight LED‘s (most of them now to make them even thinner)

Sorry for being away… (ordered a new flat cable & it has arrived now)
i’m not sure to do that now…because i live in Iran & honestly we don’t have that much equipment here to repair it …
& btw are you sure that the problem is from the Screen panel? (i mean don’t you have any idea about its flat cable?)
another problem is the flat cable that i ordered is 30 pin (couldn’t find 40 - search the whole sites here)
so… i think its better to just wait (i need to find a new 40 pin flat cable to see)

hello mashti! I have the same problem with my screen and not sure if its either the screen panel or the flat. did the 40pin flat worked for you or did you changed the whole screen? x(

If you have a uhd 4k screen it’s 100% screen problem

Often its more looks like some kind of motherboard problems than cable problems but it’s just uhd screen degradation and it’s unfixable (very thin pins inside the lcd will desolder over time due to a design flaw in those first uhd lcds from 2015)

Lp156ud1 screens can’t stand alive more than 2 yrs at my experience

Just buy 30pin cable and fhd 30pin screen it’s just save your money (uhd screen much expensive) and you also get more reliable lcd
