2nd life to old MacBook Pro charger for usb-c?

I Have an old macsafe1 charger (from an old MacBook Pro 13) with a broken cable close to the macsafe1 plug. Can I solder a usb-c plug onto (just minus and plus) the end of the cable to charge modern devices? Thanks!

Hello, I know it’s some time ago Felix asked for this simple solution.

But also a few years later, I’ve the same question.

Is it possible to cut the old MagSafe and solder a simple USB-C connector to the charger to reuse it?

Any trouble with the voltage or PD if I use the new USB-C with my IPhone?

@mat44692 You must need to know that the USB-C port by its specification includes the negotiation of how much power to deliver etc. and can even provide multiple voltages. Your Magsafe can’t do that. It is easily possible that it will send the wrong voltage
