HE3t won’t power up

Washing machine won’t power up at all. Tried unplugging and holding power button for two seconds, then start button for ten seconds, no change. Plugged back in tested live AC at the outlet and followed all the way to motherboard. All live AC till then. No AC coming out of the motherboard. Disconnected all que to motherboard and inspected for damage to wires, circuits or fuses, nothing visible. Have lots of pics but can’t find a way to upload. Any thoughts?

Hi @sobepapa,

What is the model number of the washer?

Here's how to add images on ifixit. Adding images to an existing question

Don't load too many as it may confuse. Only load the more relevant ones i.e. close up of control board area around where the power first connects and close up of control board itself.

Correction: *held power button for TEN seconds

Thank you @jayeff! Posted 2 pics. From the Landero begging washer’s door: Mod 110.49972 600. Ser CSU1105010

OK I got your comment now will get back to you soon.

You were right, the ifixit iRobot thought it was spam because it sometimes thinks long numbers i.e. model numbers are phone numbers and deletes them.

I've reopened your comments and deleted the duplicates. This will restore your lost reputation points on ifixit (-100pts for each deleted spam post) and also teaches the iRobot a bit more.

Hi @sobepapi ,

The wiring diagram in the washer’s 8183018 Tech Sheet only shows where the power gets to on the control board and not a circuit of the board itself. (see p.12)

There is a won’t power up test/check troubleshooting guide on p.13 that may help.

If it is determined that the control board is the problem and not the UI (user interface = control panel) or inbetween - harness connections etc, and you can’t see or find anything obviously wrong on the board, the part number for the control board is 8183257 (supplier example only). Search online using the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.

If it is another component that is the problem, search online for 11049972600 parts to get results for suppliers, find the part on their website and then find the manufacturer’s part number i.e. Whirlpool, usually listed when you click on the part, and use that part number to get results for more suppliers of that part that may suit you better.

Thank you so much for your detailed answer @jayeff ! I was told by a local technician that if you change the Central Control Unit (CCU), you must also change the Motor Control Unit (MCU). Is that accurate?

@sobepapi

I really don't know. I'm not one to argue with what a professional repairer says ;-)

There is no mention in the tech sheet about it. It only says to replace the CCU if it is faulty and not the MCU as well.

The same with the MCU, if it is faulty. It doesn't mention having to replace the CCU as well.

I've noticed with other washers in their tech sheets it says to "re-calibrate" the machine when the CCU is replaced but again there is no mention of doing that for this model.

You could try contacting this supplier and asking them.

Given their asking price for the CCU (ouch!) and the cost of a refurbished unit (as linked in my answer above) if you can't get a definitive answer either way, yes or no, it may be worth just trying to replace with a refurbished CCU and check what happens, rather than buying both from the outset.

Amazing help @jayeff ! Thank you so much! I will follow your advice and report afterwards. Thanks again!
