Disconnected battery adapter, scared to solder and ruin the board.

I was fixing a few small issues with my MacBook Air, trying to fix it up for my daughter. Two issues arose and I’d love to figure them out!

Firstly, while changing the battery, the adapter that connects the battery to the logic board popped off :(

I know it needs soldered to the board, but in trying , my first attempt I seem to have melted a bit of the adapter and I”m not sure if the connection from the board to the adapter actually connect.

I’m also worried I will get solder in between two of the pin and short out the board. What can happen if to pin point touch on a board, specifically the battery?

Is there a way to test if you did it right before you add power to the situaiton? Lastly, where is the EFI chip on the 11 version of the same model? So 1465? I can not locate it.

Thanks

Jennifer Gillespie you definitely do not want to shorten out those pins. you may experience a catastrophic failure as in your board may be shortened out and will not turn on or further components may get damaged. It’ll depend on where and which pins those are etc.

Post some good pictures with your QUESTION of what it looks like. Adding images to an existing question

I suggest you pull the board and send it someone reputable that does board level micro-soldering like this user on here TCRS Circuit of course it will all depend on where you are located etc.

So do some shopping around. That is not to say that you can’t do it but you got to be pretty careful. Anyhow, here is the location of the EFI chip which is a SST25VF064C IC custom programmed of course:)
