How do I reconnect the speaker cable?

In the process of replacing a broken LCD screen I damaged the power flex cable and wifi antenna. So I ordered new parts for those and replaced those. Now... the speaker doesn't work. I assume the speaker connector isn't making a good connection with the logic board.

How does it connect? The guide said to pry it straight up, which I did. But now, I don't understand how securely re-attach it to the logic board.

Any help?

The speaker connector is attached directly to the contact. You should pry it up in the back end. To put it back push the front end of the connector down and push the back of the connector down into place. When you first have opened the iPad I would buy "connector spray" which I always use on connectors on i.ex. iPhone 4 to be sure there is good contact. Use it lightly on all contacts like this.

Ok, thanks for the tip. Should the connector stay in place once pushed down

in the back?

I also noticed that the power button works when holding it down but

pressing it once doesn't lock the screen. Any ideas about that?

It should click into place and stay seated. There is a small integrated plastic "frame" in the contact that matches the cable. If it does not stay in place check the contact and cable that nothing of the frame is bent or damaged. This can happen when using too much force not alligning the the contact correctly before pushing it in.

As for the power button, the flex cable is very fragile but don't think you have damaged it (http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/lEQAt...). My suggestion would be to spray some contact spray in the button from the open iPad and try to press it a lot. Seems it could be a contact problem and not any damage to the flex cable. You should at least try that first.

Hi Simeon, it seems like I did the samething a week ago regarding the speaker connector, like you said the guide states to pry it straight up and I believe I snapped the four connectors from the board. Did you do the same and if so, have you fixed it? Thanks for any info you my have.

Yes, that is exactly what happened to me when I attempted to fix it. I have not got it fixed yet... in the process of sending it in to powerbookmedic.

I should have done that in the first place. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
