Laptop won't power on after battery replacement.

Update: iFixit sent me a replacement battery which worked for 5 days, I went away for the weekend came home and now the battery isn't recognized again... I've attached current screen shots for the history of the battery and showing the battery can't be found.

Recently replaced the battery on my Early 2015 13" MacBook Pro and it won't boot up. I believe the battery is faulty but looking for ways to verify that.

  1. I was able to plug in the old battery and the machine booted up so I believe the logic board is not the issue.
  2. I put my multimeter on the two outside pins of the battery and it is showing 12.47v so I believe the battery has a charge.
  3. When the new battery is installed in the machine the computer behaves like no battery is installed. Very slow and will power on when plugged in but if I unplug it dies instantly.

I'm very much out of ideas. Does anyone have any? Thanks in advance!

After two bad batteries I got a genuine apple battery from authorized repair shop. Installed and functions without issues. Cost a little more than the ifixit battery but it actually works. requesting a refund...

Lets do this... Disconnect the battery from the logic board with nothing else connected, now placing the system on its side, press and hold the power button for a good 15 secs to fully discharge the logic board, now carefully plug in the MagSafe power adapter, your system should spontaneously boot, Let it finish and shutdown the system properly.

Now plug the battery in again and the MagSafe, restart the system again it should boot up now, but don't get your hopes up yet, download this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question so we can check things out.

I did the suggested steps for the logic board reset but no luck. I also tried an SMC reset. Could this be software related? If I pull the Magsafe when the computer is running it powers down instantly, but if I pull the Magsafe while the computer is booting it will go through the boot process then power down.

Sounds like your replacement battery is also bad or the charging logic is bad.

Contact the Store for a second replacement and before you do anything install CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question with the charger plugged in and a second with the charger removed after giving it a few minutes.

Then shut your system down until we get back to you. Otherwise you run the risk of just running the battery down again.
