I recently got a new macbook with an m1 pro chip in it, but my cat decided to drop a thing on it, while it was open. is it possible to swap the screen and to repair the chassis of this device?

@notpauca - A typical mattress is soft so I just can't see it damaging anything.
Given the size of your cat: 10kg/20lbs or a bit heavier, as an example: (Maine Coon Cat). I could see it jumping on your system along the hinge area distorting the metal frame.
Given your systems age I would visit an Apple Store just telling them the hinge is stiff if that's all thats wrong.

Yes you can install a new screen, its not too hard but be sure to get the EXACT model for your laptop, you can usually find them on Amazon, eBay or a local computer store, although that will be the most expensive option.
if youre not comfortable doing it yourself, a shop can replace the screen for you, but its pretty simple. Get a decent set of mini screwdrivers to match your screws, otherwise you could strip them.
quite often when you take your damaged screen out there will be a QR code to scan or a serial number which you can use to figure out the proper replacement. Dont try to use anything with a different resolution, it may work a few times but not for long, and can cause many more troubles.

Solids or liquids?
Depending on how much got in it might be repairable.

@danj The thing that got broken, I think, were the hinges of the screen. The computer randomly turns on when closed or the screen doesn't turn off when the computer is on. I, unfortunately, don't understand what you meant with "liquids or solids", so I can't really answer to this question.
