What is the name of this part! Also, where can I get a replacement?

Hey! I broke off the ribbon cable connector for the trackpad on my ThinkPad. I have no idea what these are called, and I am desperately looking for help. I have some pictures of them and if anyone could help identify the name, or a place where I could get more, that would be GREATLY appreciated.

The connector may not be the biggest problem, what does the board look like where it came from?

Here's some guidance on your query:

Recognizing & Disconnecting Cable Connectors

It is likely that the board was damaged missing or damaged pads, traces etc. A photo of the board (macro, clear) would help establish that. If so repair IS possible but I'd advise a professional instead at that point. Difficult needs specialized tools. But honestly it looks like you're already at that point. I shouldn't discourage you from making an attempt though, with good eyes a steady hand and the right tools and supplies you can probably do it. But it isn't easy. If the pads or traces are damaged I recommended a pro because with a microscope etc the job is not overwhelming. You can learn the techniques and if necessary cheats and tricks to get it working again there are lots of videos showing how. That will depend on you and maybe your finances. If you want to badly enough to learn how, good luck and let me know if I can help you further.

@ruler_of_tech Lenovo uses HRS HIROSE connectors for this Thinkpad series. the connector for the touchpad on your motherboard is listed as HRS-CONN30A-4-GP (30pin and a pitch of 0.4mm) which of course does not match the HRS numbers. You have the connector so you can measure the pitch and count the pins. Check on the Hirose site right here check which locking mechanism it uses etc. Of course you can also check on Mouser.com for their Hirose connectors. Its a bit tedious but at least you know now what you are looking for
