Where to get Backlights? Does the model matter?

I have a Samsung qn65q8fnb. Overtime dark squares have on the screen. I'm having some difficulty figuring out what LED strips to get. When searching my model number I've seen backlight strips or backlight grid/arrays for every model except for my model.

Is there a place I should be looking for the backlight at? or is it a "as long as its from the manufacturer it should be fine" situation?

@nullfox don’t search by the TV model number. You will have better luck If you search by the panel number. Remove the back cover from your TV and you should find a label that os glued to the metal back of the display. It’ll have the maker and model number. Use that to search. Of course if you already have the panel disassembled then use the numbers on the backlight strips. BTW

I would also like to see those black squares that you see. Squares are not typical of a failed backlight. Post a picture of what your display actually shows with your question Adding images to an existing question

Ok, uploaded the example.

@nullfox thank you and not quite what I envisioned. Yes, I would definitely replace the backlight strips as well :-)

I’m having issues taking off the plastic back casing. I got one whole edge unclipped but then there was too much resistance.

As far as I can tell the bottom bezel was the only part that has screws going into it, and the bottom of the back plastic casing has the pressure release clips.

It felt like the resistance I was feeling was a screw but I didn’t see a screw.

See if this helps also,. If not, See if a screw may be covered by a label or grommet. Or cap. Sorry I couldn't find a guide for your model also,. If there are crew inthe VESA mount remove them

The model matters, yes, but what you really need to do is open it up and verify visually because even the same model tv may use different strips. Be extremely careful in handling the ribbon film connectors the attachment to the screen is delicate and easily damaged. Once you can see the strips I think you can simply search for the strips by screen size and and manufacturer then visually compare. You likely will find a samsung part number which should make it simple on the led strips themselves. It's like ordering an lcd screen; you must identity the panel. Model may use several variants.

Hi @nullfox

Check if there is a part number or type number printed on the LED strip itself and then search online using the number only to hopefully find suppliers.

For example it might start with JL.E500K2330-?????-???-?-?? or similar
