Black wide band on screen after display replacement

Hi,

I just replaced the broken display (dropped) to a new one and the result was as in the photo.

The display with a wide black band at the left center.... I checked again the connectors by disconnecting and reconnecting again but no change.

An external display shows perfectly and therefore no issue on GPU, if I understand well.

I also called the shop where I bought the display (Ali Express), but they said the display was passed their inspection correctly.

I will try to replace the flat display cable, but anything else should I do? Any suggestion please?

Ouch! Not good ;-{ You need a new display assembly as something heavy was pressed on the lower edge of the lid or the system got a good bang along it. Basically, the vertical data lines within the LCD got damaged which tells the black areas pixels to light.

I understand that it should be the display which I bought was already broken, most likely due to the transport.

Do you think it may be possible to fix it by replacing the main display cable (a short flat cable between the logic board and display connector board)?

Anyway I will return this display to the seller to obtain a replacement.

@masa - The short iDP cable does not carry the discreet Horizontal & Vertical signals. The cables which exit the small T-CON board to the LCD is the cables that are damaged and these are bonded to the LCD glass panel and can't be replaced. Hence, the need for a complete assembly here.

Think how the fabric is woven with the Warp and Weft here we have lost the vertical signal lines within the blacked out section of the LCD.

based what it is showed, I think, it is display issue. GPU for sure no because usually all screen will do something. Could be display cable also. But if you bought assembly they come with cable
