Also the same issue, on two units. Had the issue, returned for replacement, and now have the same issue again. After only a few months of use. They must use very cheap glue / epoxy on the metal head.

I have the same issue. The grey cylinder has detached from the body of the toothbrush and is wedged in the head. Pic attached. You can pull it out with tweezers as it's magnetic but it happens every time you take the head off and means that the head no longer seats properly so it makes an awful loud vibration and isn't cleaning my teeth properly. From what you've described, I don't think this issue is relairable.

I have repaired it by using these instructions for changing the battery and open the housing. Then disassemble the grey tip by loosening the two screws and carefully remove the transparent light ring and push out the metal pin connecting the tip with the white holder. In my case the welded metal connection between shaft and drive was broken, so I grinded softly the broken area, assembled the magnetic part with shaft through the black rubber sealing and grey tip, centered the magnet by pushing 3 narrow stripes of cardboard from top of the tip and finally glued the shaft to the originally welded section with the drive, using 2 comp epoxy resin (here called UHU Endfest, or similar suitable glue for metal). After curing time of 3 days I assembled all parts and it works so far perfectly. Use screw lock for the 2screws. I will report, if it stays well long term. Good luck to repair this lousy BRAUN work, a shame for a tool which costs almost 300€ (IO 9) and breaks right after expired warranty!

UPDATE: after 2 weeks it broke again, right at the glue section. This means, the glue is not strong enough to perform when the vibration >20.000 per minute is running.

What a pity. I have contacted the producer and asked for feedback, if this can be their goal, to produce products which fail 6 months after expired warranty.

The do advertising to produce products which last a lifetime. That's just a joke.

@wernerfalk Not shilling but my ~$40 Philips Sonicare toothbrush has been working well since about 2015 when I bought it.

из

@andrewsawesome I believe you, so far all my Oral-B products also worked longer than 8 years. But if you buy a 300€ item, it is different.

Today I informed Oral-B, which is the company BRAUN that I will never ever purchase any of their products anymore. They offered me seriously to send it for repair and pay the costs myself. For a 300€ toothbrush getting broken 6 months after the warranty expired!!!!

I think it is repairable. This grey cylinder has magnet attached on top and some plastic inside. It connects to a metal head on the end of motor shaft. My understanding is that plastic was glued to the metal head, but after short time connection fails. Which is very disappointing by Braun, indeed.

I was able to disassemble my brush, using minimum tools and photos on this site. After understanding how it works I glued "grey cylinder" back to the metal head on the end of the shaft. Used super glue (cyanoacrylate) with baking soda as a glue, simply because that's what I had. Applied some extra amount of glue mixture so it forms a cone on the end of "grey cylinder" for better connection. Works so far. 🤞
