When I insert a disk into the drive, the Xbox takes the desk and tries to spin up three times and then stops. I have replaced the laser three times, but it hasn’t changed the outcome. The laser will happily move the reset position. Not sure what is causing this behaviour. Possibly a bad motor? Or a fault on the board? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Sam

Did you get the exact same model of the laser? One and One S/X uses different drives.
Did you replace just the laser instead of the whole laser with rails?

Hey Tom,
Many thanks for the reply. I purchased the replacement laser from ebay, heres the link( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363736905237). From what I could tell it was the correct replacement. I'm by no means an expert. Is there a definitive way of telling? sorry if its obvious. My optical drive is model DG-6M5S-02B. The listing shows it be for for DG-6M1S/DG-6M2S & DG-6m5S.

I just replaced the laser in to the existing rails that were there.

@Sam Peacock the laser alignment may be off if you take it off the rails and place a new one. Also 6M5S can read UHD but previous models cannot, not sure if the listing is actually correct.
Will have a try at reseating it and try with another one and see how it goes. Is there anything like a potentiometer that might need tweaking?
@Sam Peacock For a new laser it should never need tweaking. POT adjustment is done at Hitachi before sending the laser to Liteon.
@tomchai ah ok. Was just thinking back when I used to open up older consoles. Adjusting the POT sometime kicked it back in to reading the discs better Just grabbing at straws with what limited knowledge I have :)
