My xbox 360 afterglow controller has always had it's issues with powering on with me having to shift the cord at different angles, but now whenever I plug it turns on but a milisecond it shuts off, this happens everytime I plug it in, Any suggestions?

@joelgunaratnam this "shift the cord at different angles" sounds like either a bad solder joint or a broken cable. By now it most likely is all disconnected. time to take it apart and trim the ends of the wire. Then resolder them properly. Take plenty of pictures so you do know how and where each wire connects.
