MacBook Pro not starting after iFixit battery replacement

Replaced with iFixit battery kit, initially machine started with power cable plugged in though battery was not detected (showed a battery with a cross in the top menu system tray). Later the machine stopped starting even with the power cable. Used to work fine before battery replacement. Followed steps per the iFixit battery replacement guide.

Also took it to Apple Genius Bar later and they couldn't get it working either - said the battery connector was not tightened though even after tightening it didn't start. They say it needs entire lower board replacement ($500). Already paid $140 to iFixit. Please advise options. Thinking of removing the iFixit battery and returning for a refund.

Let’s get a better view of things install this gem of an App CoconutBattery Take a snapshot and post it here for us to see.

Apple tends to quote the cost of the major assembly, as that’s how they repair.

Think of it this way… Instead of throwing out the the spoiled eggs in the refrigerator, the repair person swaps out the refrigerator! Needlessly tossing out all your other food.

Thanks for the note - the machine no longer starts after pressing the power button. CoconutBattery cannot be installed.

@justsumeet - That’s not good!

Let’s give this a try to get it going. Disconnect the battery, then press the power button holding it down for a good 15secs to fully discharge the logic board. Now plug in the battery and charger. Did that help?

No change. Machine doesn't start at all with or without the battery connected even on direct power charger plugged in. The mother board seems to have gone out during the battery replacement.

@justsumeet - At this point you need a second Mac to use the configurator tool via a USB-C cabled between them to reset the system Apple Configurator User Guide

This is a 2017 Intel MacBook Pro - no T2 chip support as needed by configurator - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208862. I'm looking into replacing the motherboard.
