As I told you. The whole point of the question is that, to Apple, doesn't care much if the defective item is a gift, a loaner or whatever, as long as it went legally in your hands.

They just need to check how old is the device itself, and they keep track of the passages it makes from Apple to Stores.

Remember that every repair has a warranty of 90 days on itself, and enjoy your iPod Nano again.

With a wrist strap they're snazzy watches too...

As far as I know the only stuff Apple Support needs to check to abscertain if your unit is eligible for support, is the Serial Number.

Go to the Apple Support Page ( https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWar... ) and use the Serial Number you've got (you'll find it in the Settings menu or written in the Clip) to check if your unit is still eligible for warranty. If you're still eligible for telephone support and repair support (and since you got it for Christmas and it's a new unit, and not, for example, a refurb), place a call to the Apple Customer Care and they'll be able to help you.

well thx man,but when i typed in my serial number it brings me to another page then ask for me to sign in with my apple id, im guessing that i have to use my the ID of the perosn who bouhgt i cuz i didn't make and apple id, or can i just make an accont and sign in with that ?

If you can't ask your sister if she already registered the iPod to her own id, you can just try creating a new Apple ID. Usually no one bothers to register a gift with Apple before giving it away.

ty i managed 2 make and account, but do u have any idea how i proove it was bought somewhere between the 1- 5 of december 2012 ?

Aside from asking your sister where she did buy it? I dunno. Still, you can try calling the phone number and explain the whole situation.
