MacBook won't turn on even after battery replacement

Hey,

I recently tried to power my older MacBook Pro mid 2019 (4 TB ports + TouchBar) after not using it for several months (about half year). First, it powered on after plugging it into power and booted into MacOS even though it showed 0% battery. I let it keep charging for several hours and when I came back and tried to wake it up it did not react. Since then, it won't power on, despite trying SMC and PRAM resets and everything as described by the apple support website.

My guess was the battery which might suffer from deep discharge and needs replacement (even though the laptop is from 2019 it was heavily used throughout the years and battery had over 1k cycles). So I ordered a replacement kit from iFixit and replaced the battery. Everything went fine during replacement. But still, even with the new battery the MacBook won't start.

Is there any chance that it's not the logic board, but instead any software issue? What are your guesses, any recommendations on what else to try?

Do you see the battery icon on the screen? Do you have access to a USB-C power meter which you can monitor the power adapter power to the system. I would also try a second charger and cable and try the other ports as well.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have access to a USB-C power meter, but the power adapter works for my other MacBook. I also tried another cable and power adapter from my newer MacBook that I use regularly. I tried all 4 ports of the MacBook. The battery icon does not appear on the screen.

But when I move my fingers over the chassis while plugged in to power supply, I feel this slight vibration which is typical for a loading Macbook (have the same feeling for my new MacBook as well). So, I assume that power supply is not the issue.

I also tried to run the MacBook with deconnected battery - doesn't work either.

@yocz7zqetdup5lx - This series had an issue with the power switching logic. From the sounds of it this will need someone with deeper skills as one needs the proper tools to diagnose the logic board as well as micro soldering tools and skills to replace the defective chip.

Oh crap. Okay, I already gave up all my hopes to get this little beast running again. Luckily, data was all backed up. Still, a very expensive paperweight ;D

Thx for your ideas! If someone of you knows a guy with too much time, skill and tools to get it running again who lives in northern Germany, please let me know ;-)
