I was told that it's timing chain the reason my truck won't start I have a new battery and it's dead today I talked to a mechanic and they said that it was the air filter I'm confused I keep my truck running good now I don't know what to do.

Let's stat at teh beginning and let's see if we can at least get you in the right direction.Tell us about the battery. It's new means how old? When did you buy it and why? What happened after you installed it? Will your truck turn over? What have you checked?
Sure, it could be the timing chain but it could also be 100 other things. Remember that you need three things for your engine to start. You need fuel, you need spark and you need air. You need to check fo all of those things first. Check if you hear the fuel pump when you first start your truck. It is in the fuel tank. So you may need to stand next to it while somebody else turns the key. Listen carefully if it kicks in.
If your Truck turns over but does not fire, you need to check for sparks. You can do that by removing a spark plug wire and stick a spark plug in there. Hold it against ground or better prop it up so it touches ground without you holding it. Then turn the engine over. Do you see sparks between the electrodes of the spark plug.
Anyhow, you see there is a lot that you can check. There are always 100's of theories of what this could be but unless you check a few things, consider all of those as suggestions and not solutions.
Let's start you off by telling us what you have checked etc. The more of a detailed history you can provide, the more likely you are of getting a helpful answer. BTW what engine size and what exact year is your Silverado?

It's an 07 Silverado Classic V6 4.3 engine.
My dad had it for 4 years I've had it 5 years I use nothing but synthetic oil I change it every year my dad put new brakes on it I haven't had any kind of friends with that I put new headlights in it a year and a half ago I haven't checked the spark plugs I got sick so I wasn't able to do much I haven't worked in 2 years so there's not a lot that I can do right now I can do very little but I will continue to do the process of elimination no I haven't checked but I will thank you for that it's kind of weird that my family thinks that you know I want tools and everything else cuz you know hey A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do even at 53 so but yes I will do what I can do let me know what else I can do there's not much I've never on the pickup and I'm sticking to it so I'm still learning about what to do if there's anything else that you can think of that I could do please feel free to let me know thank you.

@brendausey you tell me where you want to start the troubleshooting. Whenever you are ready! We just do a bit at a time and one symptom at a time. We have a really good community here and you will find that people are very helpful, kind and friendly. Age, gender, background etc does not matter to us. How many miles do you have on your truck? Is it an automatic or a standard?
