This printer uses the typical 2010-era waste ink pad, so you have two options to fix it:
You can either install a replacement pad of this style -- expect to pay ~$22 on Amazon for the pad or ~$12 on eBay:
That said, you can also Super Glue a fitting inside the printer depending on the kit you get where the waste ink comes out, as these lack a tube and pump to divert it (found on many older Epson printers, still found on wide format units) with the internal NVRAM waste ink counter.
CAUTION: ONCE YOU MODIFY IT TO DUMP EXTERNALLY, IT STAYS THAT WAY. There is no good way to revert it back!!!
One other option is to dump the waste ink outside with a waste ink container, but you need a complete kit for this. Most kits require a glued-in fitting (Hint: the permanence comes from needing Super Glue or a strong epoxy), but some may not; check and see.
If you go this route, you absolutely want the complete kit. I know Octoinkjet has the kit for sale. The Octoinkjet kit likely doesn't require a permanent modification, but many kits do.
Once you get the kit, you can either replace the pads by removing one screw and prying the pads out as a module or purchase the bare pads and transfer the replacements to the old waste ink pad container. If you opt to dump it and use a kit which requires a glued in fitting, the printer has to be flipped over so you can glue the fitting in, and then you will have to drill a hole in the printer to divert the waste ink from where the pad once lived to the tank; this one has no specific positioning due to the design Epson used, but drill it inline to avoid kinking the tube.
Once you modify the printer, the WIC counter has to be reset with a tool like WIC reset utillity. The printer will run again, but given that you have an EcoTank CISS-style unit, you may have to do a light air purge on the cartridges with a syringe. These are sensitive to air in the lines :/.

@octoinkjet your kit doesn't require glue right?
@Nick.. Correct. Depending on the printer model, the Printer Potty kits are either connected directly into the waste ink tube at the open end, or, if the end is "protected" by a plastic moulding, the waste tube is cut and connected further back. No glue is needed or recommended.
Probably best to see the instruction videos on the OctoInkjet YouTube channel for more specific examples of how the Printer Potty external tanks are fitted.
Oh and just to note, it is actually possible to largely reverse a Printer Potty external tank installation so that pads can be used again BUT it will be obvious to a printer tech as you'd need to use a connector to reconnect tubing that has been cut. So, you can't get your warranty cover back that way.
@octoinkjet I kind of suspected it from the design because usually the glue kits where reversal is hard have a fitting that says it based on the design. There’s little to reverse with the glued in fitting.
The reason I know a lot of external tanks for this style are tubeless is I had one years back, this pad format lacks a tube in general and hence why a lot of other kits require that permanent modification. Mine was cartridge based, not one of the ones based on the CISS system like this.
