Does anyone have a reliable way to connect the press connectors?

Does anyone have a reliable way to connect the press connectors? Example on Step 44 in the logic board repair guide. I find I have to fight and guess every time I need to reconnect them. There is no way to see easily, when they make a perfect contact.

I've been messing with those connectors for a while now, and generally what I do is to place my finger lightly on the connector as it's positioned over the socket. Press down gently while wiggling your finger back and forth/left and right until you feel it sink in slightly and stop moving. At that point it should be centered in the socket and can be pressed down in place. For long ones you'll want to press more on one end or the other first and kind of roll your finger toward the other end to get it seated.

That's what works best for me; I'm sure there are lots of other opinions and methods that may work as well or better for you too.

I use a fine line pen marker (Sharpie), I mark the ribbon and the logic board with index marks which guides me. And just like @dadibrokeit it’s not heavy pressure as that can damage things.

For ZIF feed through connectors, I use a thin strip of electricians tape to make a pull tab which I stick on the ribbon cable to help me feed the ribbon cable in and make sure it’s squarely seated.
