My ps3 will power on and the green light will show for roughly 6 seconds, then the ps3 will power off and a solid red light will show, nothing will display on the tv within the time the green light shows. I cannot boot into the recovery menu as the ps3 will not boot.

Hey, your PS 3 has a problem on the motherboard. Most likely the solder under the GPU Chip has a crack in it.
