My Macbook pro 16 2019 fan rev up and restarts with a black screen several times either with battery connected or not... I am not sure where the issue is... first time I have encounterd such an issue.. I am a IT by trade so I am very technical minded.. But I would need a small help going the right direction here.. Thank you.

Have you tried to reset the SMC & PRAM? I had this similar issue before with a 2015 model & it worked for me.

Yes I have tried those... they are the first steps I take when I deal with this sort of issues...
@raffig I guess also have tried with an external display?
