MacBook Pro 13" not recognizing new battery but does old?

I purchased this to replace a battery for a mid 2010 13 " macbook pro battery. This was the battery that was linked to from the repair guide.

Installation per website instructions was smooth, the battery fits perfectly though the battery is not recognized. The battery icon shows no battery present.

I tried my old battery again and continues to register just fine.

I have tried restarting, control power, as well as shift, control, option and power with no luck.

It appears that either there is something that needs to be done prior to the computer recognizing the battery or there is a problem with the battery.

Anything else I can try prior to sending it back?

Thanks!

Let's check first to see that you got the correct battery. Please give us the last three figures of your serial number so we know your exact machine. If you wuld please give us the number of the original battery and your replacement.

Sounds to me like it's a glitch or manufacturing error in the new battery... The computer is looking for an ID character on the battery when it does a search on it. If it is failing to recognize the battery as such that means there is a problem with the ID character.

I'm afraid there isn't much you can do on your side besides send it back and get another one. You might try to get a replacement from them as they sold you faulty equipment, so you should be able to get them to send you another one on their dime.

They've likely come across this issue before and should be prepared to replace it without much of a fuss. And if they put up a fight feel free to get belligerent.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Good luck.
