Repair guides, support, and troubleshooting information for the 2022 13-inch MacBook Air, featuring Apple's M2 SoC. Released on July 15th, 2022 and identified by model number A2681.

Sleep-wakes works, but black screen on restart (Air 2022 A2681)

I recently replaced the display panels on 2x A2681 M2 Air. Everything is working perfectly, except for one issue: after a shutdown or restart, the screen remains black until I close and reopen the lid. Interestingly, the display works fine when waking from sleep—this issue only occurs after a full shutdown or reboot. Has anyone else run into this? I've searched extensively but haven’t found a solution.

The angle sensor is not correctly set. Did you transfer the sensor if you transferred the display from a different system. If you got the part from Apple you need to run the Calibration tool which they gave you access to via their paywall (part of parts cost)

Reference Step 24~28 in this guide MacBook Air 2022 (M2) Screen Replacement

The angle sensor is original to the same MacBook. It was only removed from the hinge using a 1IP Torx Plus driver, while remaining otherwise connected. I'll try to redoing it. Thanks

@larka10483 - The magnetic flux from the magnet held within the replacement display interaction with the strip of hall sensors within the systems Angle Sensor is not correctly aligned. A common issue when replacing the display in this series.
