I broke the battery monitoring cable connector, can I fix this?

Hi all,

I replaced my broken screen today and in the process I think I have broken the battery monitoring cable clip. The computer works fine when plugged in, but dies when in plugged and does not show a charge etc.

Is this repairable? I really hope so, I can’t afford to replace my computer right now! :(

Thanks in advance!

@lucantaya looks like all the solder pads and traces and the logic board are still ok. In that case the only way to fix it is by resoldering the connector. Since we do not know what the solder points on the connector look like (appears as if one contact is damaged), you may even need to consider getting a new connector.

This is a partial plastic connector, the soldering will be difficult (Hot air will not work :-) and if you have never done this before, I would suggest that you have somebody with some board repair experience do that.

That is a 6-pin BMU Cable Connector with Apple part number 518S0818 and the proper descriptor is FF14A-6C-R11DL-B-3H. It is the same connector as Apple used for the microphone connector on the MacBook Pro A1425 as well as the A1502.

Looks to me as though the third pin from the bottom is just pulled out; I suspect it'll be okay if it's just pushed back in.
