Keyboard is fine, but trackpad is not. What to do next?
I have the last model that was made in 2019. It was very expensive, since it has 64GB/RAM, and a 1 TB SSD. I don't want to replace it, and really can't afford to. Note: I am referring to the internal trackpad and keyboard.
About 6 weeks ago, I saw problems with slow charging. Then, all of a sudden the screen went black & it wouldn't start at all. The battery health report says it's fine, but something is very wrong. I bought a new power adapter with higher wattage (140), and it started again. I reset the SMC & NVRAM, made sure I had the latest version of Mac OS (Sequoia 15.6.1); I ran disk utility - in recovery and disk-mounted modes - more times than I can count; I cleaned the keyboard & trackpad; I checked to make sure the firmware was up-to-date. I read up on and adjusted all of the trackpad settings - but nothing has helped.
The trackpad feels depressed; it is incredibly unresponsive. I depend on this computer. I used ifixit's advice and tools to repair my old 2013 13" retina Macbook Pro, so I know I am capable of doing the repairs, but I just don't know what to do next.
I have so much work due, and I am spending all my time tearing my hair out while not succeeding at fixing the blasted trackpad. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.
