Let's get some deeper details, install this gem of an App! CoconutBattery it will allow you (and Us) deeper details on what's happening with your system battery. Post a snapshot of the Apps main window with the battery info button data also visable.

Mmm... the CoconutBattery output is showing a healthy battery as that would have been my first guess. I'm now thinking you have a process running in background which is dependent on accessing the internet which once you are away from your wired/wireless connection has locked up threads which then impacts the systems performance.

While some Windows systems reduce performance between AC vs Battery Apple doesn't do that. Here a weak battery or one that is overheating would have been the likely suspect.

So this is a harder nut to crack! I would start off just running the onboard diagnostics to see if anything shows up there (not likely but smart to be sure). Next you need to measure the performance to make sure the issue is hardware not external or software.

What are you running for Apps when you encountered performance issues?

The thing is it lags whether I am connected to the internet or not. I am a designer and I am use Figma a lot. The first time I experienced this issues, my laptop became extremely slow when running on battery and became better when it’s connected to power. I formatted the system and it came back to normal. I installed my usual apps and it worked fine for some time till it started again. (The battery has a count of 40 but has been active for over 1100 days)

@oluwadamil95014 - What is the size of your drive and how much free space do you have?

из

My Mac is 1TB with 16gb Ram Core i9

@oluwadamil95014 - OK, even with a 1TB drive you can runout of free space AI programs like Figma need a fair amount of temp space.

You also have the dreaded i9 which struggles under heavy thermal load. Time to dig into the thermals here! I would install this TG Pro it's the best monitor app I have found. Let's see what it tells us.

I have downloaded it. What do you want to me to check on the app?

Your MacBook likely lags on battery because macOS switches to lower performance mode to save power—adjust Energy Saver settings or reset SMC to fix it.

Your thinking MS Windows systems which some do alter their performance. Mac's don't do that!

But the i9 systems have a known issue as the CPU chip runs into a thermal wall! Basically Intel failed to create the chips on the better performance Node so when heavily used (no matter the power source) the chip hits its thermal limit What Is Throttling and How Can It Be Resolved?

This is a major issue with this generation of CPU. Surpassingly the i7 version doesn't hit the issue as quickly! As Intel failed to disclose to the system laptop builders this issue Apple stepped into a mess when they didn't scale up the CPU's cooling system. And as so many people screamed it was clear Apple needed a new CpU partner! Which was them selves with the M series!
