1 MacBook Air won't recognize new battery (A2179)
My MacBook Air (A2179) became incredibly slow after using it with a bad battery (could barely hold a charge) for months, before finally becoming unable to boot past the Apple logo.
I chose to replace the battery myself. When I finished replacing it, I found that it would not recognize the new battery, as in it would turn off if I pulled out the charger. Furthermore, it would only boot past the Apple logo if I did the "PRAM" reset (Option, Command, P, R), and even then it was incredibly slow, basically unusable. Battery icon would briefly show an "X" on it, before disappearing completely. When I went into System Settings, there would be no information on the "Battery" section.
Resetting the SMC has done nothing. It still will not boot past the Apple logo on a SMC boot (left-hand shift, Control+ Option + power). Does anyone have a fix? I'm getting kind of desperate...

If the battery is correctly connected and charged then the 'X' would likely point to an issue on the board that supplies the battery data to the SMC. It will need deeper inspection and the lines tested with a multi meter etc.

Thank you very much for your answer. The fault was (fortunately) only my own ineptitude at pushing in the battery connector fully. I feel quite embarrassed, but I appreciate the help a lot, truly
