Return/Enter Key intermittently working, after battery replacement
I just used a ifixit battery kit to replace the battery, everything went fine (except most strips broke, and I had to use the alcohol to remove them). The battery is working great and it looks like everything is good except the return key is not working at all. And the key was working for 4 years.
What i notice when i boot and i need to enter the password, the return key get triggered 1x (because the password prompt is shaking), i installed karabiner_elements to rebind the right shift key to return, and i got a error message that it looks like the return/enter key is hold down.
I opened the mac again and reseated the keyboard cable (i didn't touched it before), but no change. i started in diagnostic mode and the return key is not working as well.
Is there maybe a common issue/fix? the issue started directly after the repair and i used the macbook just before and after the repair
EDIT: the situation changed... now the return key virtually pressed down all the time
when i press the return key, it goes back to normal. after some seconds (5-40) the
return key pressed down again(like holding the key down)
i don't have to touch anything, it just happens and make using the mac impossible (as a workaround i disabled the return key with karabiner elements)

Can you post to the question a picture of your keyboards layout? I found a video detailing the removal and assembly of the keys for your model but I noticed the return key in the video is from a UK layout, which I am sure has a different shaped return key https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUNIR1GA... 'maybe' removing the key cap, cleaning it, checking the small round rubber, and then putting it back 'might' solve the issue, I have encountered a similar situation before and it was to do with the small rubber in the center having dislodged slightly causing the key to not fully release..... it should be similar to the left side caps lock if your KB is a US layout. The keycaps are delicate, and I prefer to use my fingernails to get under them as this way I can judge the flex and pressure more than using a thin plastic tool.

i remember how delicate the keys are... i will try to clean it first with air pressure and if its not help i will try to clean under the key
