Replaced usb-c port in M1, starts fine only in safe mode

Hi, using the guide i replaced the usb-c port on my M1, 2020 macbook air. Both the ports are being recognized and is charging the machine as is assessed in the safe mode.

That's the problem. My mac only works in safe mode now. Upon starting normally, it starts up to exclamation point in a circle (which would suggest a firmware revival or complete restoration?)

After restarting in normal mode, everything works fine.
