Vertical lines that appear and disappear on Samsung LN46C650

I'm helping a friend with a 15 yr old Samsung, nice TV (LN46C650) that looks clean and crisp, but when it's been running 30-60 minutes or more will show vertical lines that come and go. Sometimes the lines stay there permanently until the TV is turned off & back on. That might work for an hour, or lines might return quickly.

I removed the back panel, inspected for any visibly bad caps - not seeing anything.

Next I removed and reseated all ribbons and connected wiring to the boards. For a week or 2, didn't see any vertical lines, but now they're back.

T-con board?

@winstontoby those lines are most unlikely caused by the T-con board. This looks more like bad LVDS cables or connectors. This "when it's been running 30-60 minutes" sounds like something gets hot and fails. get some freeze spray and spray some areas of the main board as well as the T-con board ribbon cable connector areas when the lines appear. See if cooling components down restores the image.

Good comments. Just to be clear, you're suggesting it's probably NOT the T-con board, right?

Heat seemed likely to me too, but a bit surprising, since this TV really feels very cool compared to others I've worked on. But last night I pulled the back off and let it run for quite awhile, thinking that might help if something is overheating - no lines. However, it sometimes will go for days with no symptoms, so I'll be patient.

So . . . I'll work with your suggestions - it may be awhile before I respond with "success" or "no success".
