We have a 5 foot deer with at least 1000 LED lights that stopped working. The transformer is putting out 24.2 volts - supposed to be 24. The deer has 2 connectors inside, probably splitting the line into thirds. If I disconnect either one, there are 24.2 volts coming out of each. The bulbs are sealed - not able to be unplugged or taken out. Why would the lights not be on?

That's a great question! The 24.2 volts is a perfectly normal for a 24 volt power supply. It's great that you already tested the voltages with a multimeter. Are the individual LEDs removable? If so, test to see if the voltage is reaching the end of the light strip. If not, then there is probably a break in the wiring somewhere. If you have a non contact voltage tester like this one you can test to see where the break in the wire is.
Otherwise, you can visually inspect the wire for any damages. Was it possible that rodents were able to chew the wires?

Thank you for your quick response. The "bulbs" are not removable. I do have that exact non contact tester. When I touch the wire I don't get beeping like I get in normal testing, but an intermittent beep- not consistent. Remember when I check the connectors which there are 2 of in the string, I am getting the 24 volt reading. The deer is made of metal like a heavy wire. There are so many wires around the this frame that it's difficult to follow. Is there a way I can attach a picture?
Hi Ken, yes you can add an image to your comment, that would be very helpful! I'm glad that you have the voltage tester, I have the same one and it is very helpful. If the beep you are hearing is inconsistent, there is probably some sort of issue with the wire itself. Is the deer very old? Do you think it is possible that the wires' insulation has cracked/broken down over the years?
How can I add an image? I don't see that option.

The deer has 1100 lights and is 4 - 5 years old. It worked fine for a while this year. The lights and wires are on there in a way that would be difficult to follow. The one close up show one of the two connectors that are in the middle. When I disconnect either one, the voltage is fine. I hate to throw it away. it costed over $200.
