Pentax Optio S5i not turning on – error beep & lens not extending

Hi,

I have a Pentax Optio S5i compact camera and I’m trying to figure out if it can be repaired.

Symptoms:

• When I press the power button, it starts to turn on
• I hear the normal startup sound, but then it makes a beep-beep error sound
• The lens does not come out
• The LCD screen stays black
• The camera does not fully power on

The battery is charged, and there was no drop or water damage.

Does anyone know what usually causes this problem?

Is this something that can be repaired, or is it a common failure on this model?
