The battery to the laptop will need to be removed for most repair to the laptop in order to prevent electrical shock. The battery is designed to be easily and quickly removed from the laptop by sliding a switch and pulling the battery free. You'll need to have the laptop powered off, and unplugged before attempting to remove the battery. Wait ten minutes after unplugging and powering off to ensure there is no left over charge.

Unplug the charging cable from the laptop and the wall. Failure to disconnect the charging cable could result in electric shock.
Turn the laptop over.
Locate the orange switch next to the battery.

Using a small tool such as tweezers or a pen, slide the orange switch completely to the left to unlock the battery.
While holding the orange switch in place, lift the battery by the lip and pull it away from the laptop.
