If the Acer Aspire One D255-1625 crashes often before the screen goes black, use this guide to replace the RAM card.

The RAM card is responsible for temporarily storing computer data and affects total device performance.  A defective RAM can cause frequent crashes, freezing, and black screens especially when using an application that requires a lot of memory usage.

Note: Before replacing the RAM, ensure that the device is powered off .

  1. Before you replace the battery, ensure that the device is unplugged and powered off. Pull the upper left switch on the back of the laptop to the left into the unlock position. Pull the upper right switch to the left and hold it in place.

  2. Pull the battery straight out.

  3. Use iFixit’s Jimmy tool to remove the bottom panel of the device.

    • Wedge the tool into the top middle of the panel until the back gently pops off.

  4. Push the silver locking tabs on either side of the RAM card outward and the card will pop up to rest at an angle. Slide the card straight out of its housing. Slide the card straight out of its housing.
