    • Separate the tablet from the base by pressing the large silver button below the tablet. The silver button is located at the base of the tablet.

    • Remove the tablet by lifting up.

    • Insert the opening tool into the seam of the tablet casing and gently pry upwards.

    • With a little force, you will feel the clips release.

This image seems not to show the correct position where to place the tip of the tool initially. It suggests to pry between the frame and the glass pane from the top of the tablet. That's what I did and broke the glass - one device spoilt. Only the next picture correctly shows where to apply the tool.

    • Slide the tool along all four edges of the tablet, making sure that all the clips are released.

    • Do not break these clips; otherwise, the screen will become less secure.

    • Remove the copper tape carefully.

    • Gently pull back the yellow transparent plastic covering on top of the battery connection port.

    • Rotate the device so the top of the screen is facing you. Place the plastic opening tool underneath the battery and gently pry upwards to lift the battery out.

    • The battery wire harness will slide out as the battery is pried up.

My Asus Transformer is a T100TAF which doesn't have the yellow tape over the battery connector and the plug attached to the battery appears to be firmly fitted into the socket mounted on the Main Board. I have yet to work out how to remove the plug but the photo nearest above is a help as it shows the little spigot attached to the plug and which fits into the notch in the socket is in fact part of the plug. Back to the work bench.

The battery plug was simply a very tight fit in the socket. My problem was the tablet not turning off properly when we wished. It would appear to switch off but was drawing about 250 mA from the battery which flattened it in a day or so. Unplugging the battery, waiting for a minute or so and re-connecting it solved the problem at least so far.

    • Remove the battery by slowly peeling the battery away from the connected side.

    • The adhesive on the back will pull away from the battery.

So I switched out my screen for it and its not turning on and I checked it everything was correctly place, but my Asus transformer was dead before hand so I tried charging it, and it wasn't charging, so I checked it and it seems the battery wire harness is loose enough to come off, is it possible to fix that?

Thanks for detailed guide.

I could not get the transformer tablet to power up no matter which buttons I held for how long or in what sequence. Unplugging the battery internally and replugging fixed a hung device.

I was having trouble with battery,I did a rehearsal run before buying a new battery.I was able to remove and reinstall the battery but now the battery icon in system tray shows a red x and cannot calculate battery status and stuck at zero.

Thanks for the guide. I replaced the battery and it worked! I'm a computer dinosaur but followed the diagrams exactly...including reverse to put the new battery in.

Is there any possible use for the old battery? Can it be refurbished or just recycled?

Thanks again Tassiesbill

How did you glue the battery? I used double sided tape but didn't immobilize the battery. Did you use a specific type of glue?

Where can i find a battery and screen for the adus t100ta-c1-rd (s) version

Guide was right on!! I used a guitar pick to seperate the case and it was the perfect tool. Being plastic it did no harm to the edges. I have ordered a replacement battery through Walmart of all places and when i complete the fix i will update.

Thank you very much! It helped me to fix my T100TA (it didn’t start, just the LEDs blinked). Unplugging the battery (not replacing!) helped, now it works properly again. :-)

Thanks to ifixit and to commenters. Like previous person I unplugged the battery, plugged it again, and battery works again. Probably the reason is corrosion of electric contacts coming with the time.

worked great. my t100 wouldn't turn on. just disconnecting and reconnecting the battery solved it. I took it to a phone repair shop…he opened the case with a guitar pluck, which he gave me if i have to do it again.

How did you reconnect the battery? Did you use any specific glue or something? Or just an ordinary adhesive tape?

Thank you! I was able to resurrect my tablet in about half an hour. It's back in my studio, and I'm recording with it.

I used this SUPER USEFUL article to solve my issue with my T100. I just disconnect the battery for a few seconds and my tablet is back.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Great SITE, great articles.

I used my thumbnail to separate the cover. Then again, I’ve used my fingernails for screwdrivers in the past. But you guys with thick nails, it works Grr-eat! You can’t slip and loose it on the floor. Just kind of rock your thumbnail back and forth until the cover unsnaps apart, then slide your nail across the seam as it unsnaps. It is so easy on the plastic that the glass won’t break like I saw happen in another “ifixit” site. That’s right,

DO IT WRONG WITH TOO MUCH PRESSURE → → C-U-R-R---R-A-C-K-!

There seems to be many different variants of this Asus T100. Stupidly I rushed into a repair on one from just going off the first couple of pictures in this guide. I would have ended up cracking the glass/LCD anyway but it would have been good to know at the time that there are different constructions of this tablet/laptop thing.

So I would strongly recommend not doing this if your model is a T100-CHI unless you want a nice crack to appear almost immediately.

If you do have this model just treat it like an iPad in the fact that without specialist tools like a hot plate/thin wire you are going to end up cracking the glass/screen regardless and be picking many glass shards/adhesive off.
